Guru Purnima also known as vyas purnima is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Ved Vyasa who is known to be the famous author of Puranas, mahabharata and other Hindu Texts.The word Guru is a sanskrit word which means “Dispeller of Darkness”.  It is celebrated on the full moon in the month of Ashadha (July) to pay respect and gratitude towards our gurus,  spiritual mentors and other gurus who enlighten their lives.
